BottomsUpOrange – Jean Skirts & Jackets!

By: Christine Cardimen

Jean skirts, jean jackets, jean shorts (well while shorts are truly uncomfortable, I may give baggy boyfriend cut off jean shorts a pass during summer just this once)….but to my point, I love them! Love them! Love them! So does my best & long-time friend, Gigi…Geege for short!

I have a favorite Gap jean jacket…baggier with holes in the elbows from true love & wear, and I will never give it up. I have a Target/Mossimo (I call it Mossimoso) fitted jean jacket that is also an adorable always top favorite. Then I have a cute little cropped jean jacket from Meijer with sweatshirt grey sleeves and I cut the hoodie out because it’s a perfect jean jacket for work being lightweight, cropped, and works well with dresses!

True Blue Favorite!
Jean jacket with work flair! LOL!
Always wearing my jean jacket!!!!
Some awesome jean daisy dukes!
Great skirt!!!!

So, onto jean skirts…and specifically ‘turning a pair of jeans into a jean skirt’! I did this today for my friend Gigi, and it turned out awesome!!!!! I can’t wait to give it to her!

The beautiful one & only: Geege Girl!
Step1: Piecing together the design!
Step2: Cutting & Pinning!
Step3: Re-learning how to sew after about 20 years!
Final Front!
Final Back!

It’s simple and cute and doesn’t have to be perfect…it’s already got the best qualities built in because it’s:

  • 1. Handmade
  • 2. Jean material
  • 3. Stylish
  • 4. Timeless
  • 5. Totally cool!
  • 6. And it truly rocks!

    1. It came back easier than I thought, and I never really did much more than a straight line lol! A dress or skirt pattern might be fun to try next!

      1. That sounds fun! Love skirts. I made a shirt once in home ec. Wore that thing all the time. Ha. My momma and grandma made lots of clothes- grandma made almost all of her own clothes. Love that you made your best friend a skirt.

PS Oh my gosh- I could not figure out why sown looked so weird!! It’s sewn. Hahaha.

              1. Love this reminder. (Kind of like your desk art reminder.) Maybe I’ll sew myself something again. Just because. Maybe I’ll love it so very much, like before. 🙂

                  2. By the way, I remember how I stumbled across your blog. I was reading a post from someone I ‘follow’ and at the end similar posts showed up. Kind of like the ‘you might like these posts’ thing. I think it was there.
